Green Spot Nail Under Acrylic

Green nail syndrome GNS is an infection of the nails that leads to a greenish discoloration of nails also known as chloronychia.

Green spot nail under acrylic. Now the nail fungal infection may go unnoticed for a long time under acrylic nails as it hides there. No matter what I do - ex take off the acrylics and file the green off - it comes off cause its weak and rips on anything. It is so small about the size of a pin head should i put something on it or will it just grow out.

Since the discoloration is underneath the nail it will not disappear with washing or scrubbing. Severe and un-treated cases will appear as dark green or even black spots on the nail. I removed the nail but is this i worry.

Since the discoloration is underneath the nail. Albeit rare the greenies can pop up on occasion and are seen more typically with nail enhancements such as acrylic or hard gel non-soak off type and in humid weather. Under your nail enhancement for example.

Within 2 weeks - the green is back. You can still enjoy artificial nails if you follow a few simple hygiene rules. However it may cause the fungus to spread into the natural nails causing inflammation itching and pain not to mention cosmetically unpleasant natural nail appearance.

I finally went in one week ago last friday to see if this is normal. This is the direct result of the nail technician not properly prepping the nail plae. I have only been wearing overlays for about 4 months and I have had not problems before this.
